The Adventure Safety Conference is an international professional conference hosted by Viristar, focused on advancing safety in adventure activities in Asia and beyond.
The conference provides a forum for industry professionals to discuss standards and practices, share knowledge, and collaborate in elevating the quality and safety of the adventure sector.
Through workshops, a panel discussion, trainings, keynotes and networking, participants explore good safety practices, industry standards and risk management theories while building professional relationships and gaining skills and knowledge useful in adventure tourism, outdoor recreation, experiential learning, therapeutic recreation, and allied professions.

Yes. Participants who register on or before May 31, 2027 are eligible for the discounted “early bird” rate. Regular registration runs from June 1 through September 17, 2027, and late registration is available from September 18 to September 30, 2027.
Group discounts may be available for organizations sending multiple participants. Contact kaelan@viristar.com for details.
All speakers at the Adventure Safety Conference are required to register for the conference. Presenters are eligible for a significantly reduced full conference attendee registration rate.
While this reduced rate helps offset the cost of attendance, it is not intended to compensate speakers for their time and expertise. Viristar values the important contributions presenters make to advancing safety, knowledge, and professional practice in the adventure sector.
Presenters who are participating as exhibitors and are already registered as booth representatives do not need to register separately as conference attendees.
Registration for pre- and post-conference events is managed through Viristar. Attendees can add the events they wish to attend when completing their conference registration.
Yes. Participants will receive a digital certificate of attendance after the conference.
Yes. The Adventure Safety Conference offers scholarships to support participation from professionals who may otherwise face financial barriers. These scholarships are intended to promote diversity, inclusion and accessibility within the adventure and travel community. Applicants are encouraged to submit a brief statement of need and professional background.

Yes. The minimum age to register for the Adventure Safety Conference and associated professional development events is 18 years. Individuals under the age of 18 may not register for or attend conference sessions, workshops or official conference activities.

Jeff A. Baierlein (he/him) has been working professionally since 1987 with outdoor education, environmental education, adventure education and experiential education organizations in the USA and around the world. He led remote wilderness expeditions, worked as a naturalist-educator, served as an Emergency Medical Technician with ambulance services, led search and rescue missions, and was appointed to the Washington State Governor’s Council on Environmental Education.
Prior to founding Viristar, Jeff served as Executive Director of both the Boojum Institute for Experiential Education and the Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound Center. His writing and lectures have been translated into Japanese, Vietnamese, Russian, Marathi, and Chinese.
Communications Manager
Kaelan Young (she/her) brings her passion for the outdoors and a rich background in outdoor and experiential education to her role as Communications Manager at Viristar. With a degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, Kaelan has woven her experiences as an elementary educator, outdoor educator, and her expertise in marketing and operations for outdoor education organizations into her professional journey.
She previously served as Marketing Manager for the largest forest school in the USA, where she led strategic communications, brand development, and community engagement initiatives. Prior to working with Viristar, she also served as Director of Operations for an outdoor learning nonprofit in Idaho, overseeing program development, staff coordination, and organizational strategy, ensuring high-quality and impactful experiences for learners of all ages.
